Weekly Wishlist

Hey you!

I have neglected this blog for a couple of weeks, my sincere apologies for that!
BUT it is back and with a new look which I hope you like and what better way to present the new look than with my current wishlist?

Voodoo Vixen Susie Meow dress, I keep seeing this dress on various feeds, it's very popular and it's obvious why! A beautiful design and the fabric is perfect for the autumn, you can also buy a matching cape!

Luxdeville bag, this is just one of many Luxdeville bags that I admire. So very, very pretty!

Flamingo Candle, yes I love flamingos, no it will never end. I used to believe a certain well known candle company was the best, I was WRONG! Flamingo candles have a huge selection of scented candles and they all have a pretty flamingo on the jar. I want every one!!!

My current wishlist is far bigger than this but I don't want to overwhelm you! I'll be writing a few more blogs this week including a review :)

Thanks for looking in

Collectif 100 dresses

Hey you!

In September there was a little event in Camden, The London Edge 30th show after party.
For this event Collectif created an exciting opportunity for their customers to be a part of the celebration and get a free dress.
Myself and some friends were very lucky and got tickets (and FREE dresses) to go to the party.
I've only been writing this blog for a few weeks but I've decided to write about it now because London Edge released a cool video yesterday that I really want to share along with some pics.

The line up was spectacular!
The Tootsie Rollers
Meth
Slinky Sparkles
Dani Devine

DJ sets by Ricki Hall and Zoe London

All hosted by the excitingly fabulous Alix Fox!

Myself and 3 friends made our way to London to Collectif's Camden store, our dresses were all ready and waiting for us and after a quick change and some pics we headed to Proud Camden.
Proud Camden is an old converted horse hospital, it still has the stables which have been converted into different rooms to socialise in.
The drinks were flowing with free champagne and the entertainment was eccentric, amazing and an experience! I loved The Tootsie Rollers and now want to be a Tootsie!
The DJ sets were brilliant, Ricki Hall is one talented, bearded, tattooed hottie!
I think what I loved most though was being around such diverse people who have similar tastes to me, there were some beautiful ladies all in gorgeous outfits. It was very inspiring.

Here are a few pics, courtesy of an absolute doll (Kiri 'Llama Drama')

Lots of lush red dresses!!

Weekly Wishlist, Halloween Special

Hey yoo-oo-uu-u-uuuuuu!

It is Halloween this weekend, I'm not a big celebrator of Halloween and I tend to ignore any knocks on the door, terrible I know!
But I have seen a few Halloween inspired items that are pretty cool and cute, if I were going to a Halloween party instead of working I would make an effort this year.

If you don't want to do the face paint, getting mucky thing than maybe these few items are for you!

Vivien of Holloway, Horror Hair Horns, also available in black!
So these are ideal if you really don't do the dressing up thing. Simply add to a red dress and heals and 'Woll-a' She devil!! Vivien of Holloway have a few spooky accessories this year but these are by far my favourite.
Blood splatter heals, again available in black.
These would be good with almost any costume, murderous nurse, murderous bride, murderous...you get the idea!

Voodoo Vixen monster dress, sexy and spooky, this dress is fab!

Happy Halloween all and if you are celebrating have fun!

Here's a pic taken a few years ago, the last time I really dressed up for Halloween.

Lou Lou's Northampton Vintage Fair

Hey You!

On Saturday myself and my friend Katie went to Lou Lou's Northampton Vintage Fair held at The Guildhall, Northampton.
It's a regular event that I have been to several times. The Guildhall is a stunning venue and very apt for the vintage fair.
Entry was £2, a reasonable price for a nice day out and inside were vintage treats galore!
The fair uses up two rooms, the main hall and the smaller hall. A variety of vintage traders set up their shops and available to buy are clothes, hats, shoes, coats, jewellery, bags, homeware and menswear. Items are vintage, handmade or reproduction and there is cake and tea!
Literally something for everyone!!

I love hats!
After perusing the stalls and all the glorious items on offer ( I swear I could have spent £100s!) what better than a cup of tea and a slice of cake?
Mmmmm, which one to choose.
A lovely afternoon was had.

REVIEW: Rockabilly Red

Hey you!

A couple of weeks ago I found Rockabilly Red and immediately added one of her headpieces to my wishlist. I knew I'd invest in one of her hair treats, they all looked so beautiful!
I've got quite a collection of hair flowers but nothing that fitted in with the season, shops mostly sell spring/summer flower head wear.
I messaged Jo, the glorious red head who creates the headpieces, and she was more than happy to use her creativity to put together a unique, handmade autumn inspired fascinator for me.
I didn't have to wait long either! Needless to say, I was super excited when a box arrived and inside, beneath leopard print tissue paper...

How beautiful is it?
The design is autumn inspired with leaves, an apple, a pear and three flowers.

Underneath the flowers are attached to a fascinator that has two crocodile clips. The clips are placed at an angle to ensure a good, sturdy fix.

Not only is it pretty but it is well made and definitely made to last, no parts are wobbly and even better you can't see where the flowers and fruits are attached.

I couldn't wait to try it out and also see peoples reactions, this is a pretty big headpiece!

Even if I do say so myself, it looks LUSH! Very easy to put in place, not heavy and it stayed in place. I did bonk it a few times because I forgot how much extra height I had.
I wore it out and about, got lots of looks and a few people asked where I got it from.
I really couldn't be happier with this purchase and I can't wait to order another, maybe a Christmas/Winter theme!
Thanks Jo

Weekly Wishlist

Hey you!

You probably won't believe me, but I actually haven't done a lot of internet browsing this week! It's been my busy week at work (eurgh, work!!)
I have still managed to wish for a few things though, and here is the list
Voodoo Vixen fur collar cardigan, Voodoo Vixen have these in several different colours and I like each one (not surprising really). Now we're nearing the end of October it's getting cold but it's  difficult to make a wooly jumper look glamorous, these cardigans fit the glamorous criteria I think.
Irregular Choice 'End of Story', Have you heard of Irregular Choice? Yes? Than you know how amazing their shoes are! No? What? To be fair, few people have. If you are looking for shoes that are eccentric, diverse, colourful, luxurious and come in a box that you actually want to keep, than Irregular Choice is the answer.
They have a few pairs of shoes like the above, all lovely. I like these ones in particular for the versatile, winter colours.
Banned flamingo wallet A few weeks ago I was super lucky and won the pink flamingo bag by Banned. I adore my bag, it matches my newest tattoo! And they now have a wallet to match! Everyone needs a little bit of flamingo in their life, and my little bit is slowly turning into a lot. Haha!

Hairspiration

Hey You!

Hair is a BIG part of the vintage look, from the colour to the cut to how you style it.

At the moment I am rocking the classic Bettie Page look and I love it, I don't have to do much to achieve the vintage look.
Love her!!
I follow a few blogs and vintage ladies and I wanted to share some of the most gorgeous hair colours and styles!
Diablo Rose
This lady is beautiful and has the most devine hair and make up, I wish I was brave and talented enough to do this to my hair. What a head turner huh?
Eleanor Paige
You don't often see this shade of blue used, turquoise is probably the most common blue but this lady has it sooo right! Another beauty. I also love her beauty spot (very Marilyn)
The Freckled Fox
This lady does a lot of hair tutorials, she covers everything. Easy to follow, inspiring and beautiful. You must check out her blog.
Dita Von Teese
Well, this lady is THE Pin up as far as I am concerned, if you don't know who she is, wait...why would you not?? I love everything about this lady, I don't think there are words to describe her sophistication and pure beauty. An absolute modern day idol.

Well I hope my inspirations have inspired you! I'm now going to go and buy some peroxide and some lilac dye *wink, wink*

Weekly Wishlist

Hey you!

This is my second blog dedicated to the many items that are on my wishlist. Please note it is my birthday soon and if anyone wants to buy me one of the gorgeous items from any of my wishlists it would be gratefully received!! Haha *sigh*

First things first
This Collectif cape is beautiful and still to be released so I have no idea how much money I'll have to save to buy it. It has a lovely fur trim and is perfect for those that don't like the full length coats on offer this season but still want to be vintage and cosy.

This British Retro dress is stunning and sexy and apparently furry! That may sound odd but I'm in love with the idea of a furry, leopard print wiggle dress. Years ago I had a car that had furry seat covers, it was super warm and cosy, if I could've had those covers on me whilst out of my car I would have, this dress is the answer! British Retro do 50's dresses beautifully, they are true to size and their swing dresses come with matching head scarfs. Lush!

And lastly, I happened upon this lady on Facebook. I adore hair flowers/pieces and the bigger the better. Her name is Rockabilly Red and she designs and makes these beautiful, individual headpieces. Browsing through her photos I really can't choose a favourite, it is all devine. And she shows them so well too. Hmmmm, I think I may have to purchase very, very soon!

Thanks for reading my lovelies

Selfridges, Birmingham

Hey you!

Whilst in Birmingham we couldn't resist a quick look around Selfridges, always a bad idea but also so good!!

Being from London I LOVE Selfridges, my favourite section being Beauty and Fragrance. I managed to refrain from buying make up this visit but I enjoyed looking and testing the lipsticks at the MAC counter.

We spent most of our visit looking at sweets! The ground floor of Selfridges Birmingham is confectionary, there are sweets and treats galore! So much to look at, it's a bit overwhelming. They have a giant bull covered in jellybeans.

 And also this smart gentleman

There are also a few shops, Paperchase, Lego and Cath Kidston. I've always loved Cath Kidston and the shop in Selfridges is a delight and full of items you never knew were made by Cath Kidston.

Which clock is the cutest?

We finished our trip with a visit to Krispy Kreme and a naughty purchase of 12 doughnuts.

There is so much to see and oooh over, I think the next trip will have to be a dedicated all day one.

Dry the River

Hey You,

On Friday myself, my hubby and a friend went to see 'Dry the River' at the Institute, Birmingham.

One of my favourite things to do is go to a good gig, I've been to many. I started gigging quite young thanks to having a punk mum and rocker dad!

Me and my hubby have seen 'Dry the River' once before when they were supporting 'Bombay Bicycle Club' about 3 years ago.
We really liked their set and started to listen to their album 'Shallow Bed'. They have recently released their second album 'Alarms in the Heart' and are currently touring. I recommend seeing them if they are playing near you, they are awesome live.

I'd never been to the Institute Birmingham before, it's a small venue. There is nothing better than seeing your favourite band in a close, personal venue and when a band hits mainstream they generally stop doing the smaller gigs so the memories of being in a close atmosphere become quite precious!
The place was heaving, people were standing on the stairs there was so little space.
We arrived just in time to grab a drink before 'Dry the River' came on stage. (We missed the support band for having dinner at Pizza Hut)
They started their set with a few songs from their first album including my fave. Lion's Den. They played a mix of old and new and they sounded brilliant. The lead singer and guitarist, Peter, chatted to the audience, he looked rather cool in a white suit (reminded me of Robin Zander of Cheap Trick). The rest of the band are Matthew on the guitar, Scott on bass and Jon on drums.

It was a great gig. The best part being it such a personal gig, the worst being 'shushed' by some grumpy lady behind us!

Of course I have to share my outfit that I wore!

Dress & coat; Collectif
Bag; Banned
Shoes; Vintage

And a couple more pics of me doing Kiri's hair and me and the hubby at Pizza Hut
Thanks for reading!
